Obituary for Betty Ruth McClennon Williams
Mrs. Betty Ruth McClennon Williams was born on June 30, 1937 to the late Mr. Clyde McClennon, Sr. and the late Mrs. Freddie Mae Smith McClennon. She departed this life peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Statesboro, Georgia.
Betty was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Eldred Williams on September 24, 1955 and to this union, seven children were born. She joined the Historic Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and attended faithfully all her life, until the later years as her health prevented regular attendance. Her joy at church was praising God and singing in the senior choir.
She was preceded in death by three sons: Rickey Eldred Williams, Randy Gregory Williams and Timothy Marcellus Williams; four sisters, Mary McClennon, Margie McClennon, Joyce McClennon-Holland and Delores McClennon-Jones; and one brother, Clyde McClennon, Jr.
Betty’s precious memories will forever be cherished in the lives of her four daughters: Ms. Gloria Dean Lovette of Statesboro, Georgia, Mrs. Kay Francis (Michael) Ashe of Reidsville, North Carolina, Ms. Sharon Yvonne Bryant of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Mrs. Clarice Machel (Michael) Moore of Quitman, Georgia; two sisters: Mrs. Joan (James) Holloway of Newark, New Jersey, and Ms. ReeDell McClennon of Daisy, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lena Mae (Manin) Reaves of Macon, Georgia; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
