Obituary for Carlender McRae Gibson
The life of Carlender (McRae) Gibson began on May 24, 1950. She was born in Collins, Georgia to the late Mr. Willie Clarence and Mrs. Ella Mae McRae, who preceded her in death. She entered into eternal rest on October 29, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. She had one brother, James Roger McRae, who also preceded her in death.
At an early age, Carlender received Christ as her personal Savior and joined Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. She received her education at Tattnall Industrial Schools in Collins, Georgia and graduated with the Class of 1968. She furthered her education at Georgia Southern University, where she received her degree in a field that was truly her passion, Nursing as an LPN. Carlender's dedication and commitment for her profession was shown in every aspect of her nursing career, and was often highly spoken of by many of her fellow peers who worked alongside her, as well as the patients who were in her care.
She was married to James Quenton Gibson and to this union five children were born. Three sons preceded her in death: Keith, Jeffrey, and Christoper Lapez Gibson. A long time companion, Willie Brown, also preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Quenton Montez (Janet) Gibson of Claxton, Georgia; one daughter, Kimala Chanel (Robert) Lawson of Reidsville, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Khiry, Markell, Maya, Genesis, all of Claxton, Georgia; Kenya, Destini, Amari, and Noah, all of Reidsville, Georgia; three great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Khily, and Nadia; one uncle, Fred C. Jackson of Collins, Georgia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
