Obituary for Dawn Leeks

Dawn (Niecey) Hagan Leeks, 57, of Claxton Georgia, passed away at Memorial Health University Hospital on July 29th, 2024, after an extended illness. She was born in Elizabeth New Jersey and then spent most of her childhood in Claxton, Georgia. Dawn was a 1986 graduate of Claxton High School.


Dawn was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She had a passion for outdoors, growing plants, fishing, crafting, singing, writing, and learning of her ancestry. Dawn’s faith was a big part of who she was. She had a strong belief in God and would help bring comfort through prayer to anyone in need.


Dawn was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Dekle, her father, Lawrence Lewis, and her maternal Grandparents, Mildred and Angelo Hagan.


She leaves her memories to be cherished by her husband, Larry Leeks, her mother, Aldonia Hagan, father, James Arthur McPherson, 2 sons, Aarion Hagan (Ashley) and Justin Mainer, 2 grandchildren, Makenzie Hagan and Aijay Hagan, siblings, Larry Hagan (Lorena) Andrea Mckever (Johnny) Anthony Hagan (Jessica), Henrietta Abrams, and Curtis Wilkerson, a sister-in-law, Tracy Holland, and a close friend who was more like a sister, Caroline Brewton Porter. Dawn also has a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
