Obituary for Edgar Freeman
Deacon Edgar (Eddie) Freeman, Jr., 86, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, April 15. He was born on October 17, 1929 in Gasden, Ala. to the late Willie Sue Short Freeman and E d g a r F r e e m a n , Sr. Dea. Freeman grew up in Gasden, Ala. At a young age he moved to Buffalo, N.Y. where he received his education. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Upon being stationed in Ft. Stewart, Ga., he met and married Elease Stafford. They were married for 50 years. To this union, six children were born, two of which preceded him in death: Elease (Sally) Burney and Donaldson (Duck) Stafford. Dea. Freeman has had several jobs throughout his life. He worked for C&C Farms a number of years as a truck driver. He later worked for 18 years as a fireman at Georgia Pacific, where he retired. Dea. Freeman leaves to cherish fond memories, two loving daughters, Marion (L.C.) Wilcox, Jr. and Rozella (Michael) Bellamy; two loving sons, Edgar T. (Cynthia) Freeman and Dennis B. Freeman, all of Claxton; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, three great nieces, two great-nephews, six sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and many other relatives and friends.
