Mrs. Emma Jean Carlton ended her journey on March 23, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. She was born in Miami, FL on May 15, 1944 to Mr. Harvey Bell and Mrs. Eva Mae
Brinson. She was the third sister of Mattie Lou Jones, who preceded her in death, Rosie Woods and Estella “Mae Doll” Hughes.

In May of 1959, Emma married Joe (Doc) Carlton, Jr., who preceded her in death. From this union they had three adoring daughters: Lisa, Debra, and LaCrystal.

Emma resided many years in Lexsy and Stillmore, GA, where she had many friends and family, and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. Later in life she moved to Atlanta, GA and found a new church home at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Emma also began a new career and established new friendships while working at Brunswick Bowling Alley in Lawrenceville, GA.

Emma leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters: Lisa Pope (Darold Ware) and Debra Woods, both of Snellville, GA and LaCrystal (Gina) Johnson of Stone Mountain, GA; two sisters: Rosie Woods of Atlanta, GA and Estella “Mae Doll” Hughes of Stillmore, GA; eight grandchildren: Demond Carlton, Jasper Heath, Joey D.
