Obituary for James Quenton Gibson
On December 15, 2020, Mr. James Quenton Gibson transitioned into eternal rest after an extended illness. He was born January 26, 1948 to the late Mr. Owen and Mrs. Geneva Gibson. He was preceded in death by his sons Keith, Jeffrey, and Christopher “Pez” Gibson, brothers Elton Gibson, Juan Gibson, and Charlie Robinson, and his sister Helen Johnson. James attended Metter High School and after graduation, he joined the United States Army. He attended Ogeechee Technical College where he completed the Commercial Truck Driving program. James was employed by Automatic Sprinkler, Cooper Tools, and Howard Sheppard Trucking. James accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Sam’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. James was a quiet person, but he loved his family and was always willing to help anyone. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: His loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Alfreda Gibson of Twin City, Georgia; two sons: Mr. Quenton Montez Gibson (Janet) of Claxton, Georgia, Mr. Tyrone Wilson (Amber) of Tampa, Florida; three daughters: Ms. Brittany Gibson and Ms. Anitra Wilson, both of Twin City, Georgia, and Ms. Kimala Lawson of Collins, Georgia; six brothers, Mr. Raymond Gibson (Valerie), Mr. Jerry Gibson, Mr. Larry Gibson (Arlene), and Mr. Dwight Gibson, all of Metter, Georgia, Mr. Gregory J. Gibson (Shirley) of North Augusta, South Carolina, and Mr. Wendell Gibson (Jeanette) of Statesboro, Georgia; six sisters: Mrs. Inez Porter of Flushing, New York, Mrs. Irene Dixon (Deloan), Ms. Carolyn Gibson, Mrs. Deborah Brown (James), Mrs. Janice Grant (Keith), and Mrs. Wanda Gail Smith (Stanley), all of Metter, Georgia; A cousin reared as a sister, Mrs. Karen Johnson (George) of Savannah, Georgia; two uncles, Mr. O.J. Gibson (Lorene) of Metter, Georgia and Mr. U.L. Byrd of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.; three aunts, Mrs. Lottie Owens of Metter, Georgia, Mrs. Eppie Brown of Laurelton, New York, and Mrs. Roberta McClain of Riverdale, New York; fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
