Jimmie Lee Murray was born November 26, 1938 in Statesboro, Georgia to the late Mr. George and Mrs. Marie Murray. He was the youngest of five children. Jimmie was baptized at the age of thirteen. He attended Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a member of a quartet group.
At age seventeen, Jimmie moved to Fort Pierce, Florida for a few years and then relocated to Rochester, New York. His first job was at Sargent and Greenleaf, Inc., where he worked for fourteen years. He moved on to General Motors and retired after thirty-one years of service.
