Obituary for JoAnn Booker
Sis. JoAnn Booker departed this life on Wednesday August 17, 2022. Sis. Booker was born November 28, 1957, to the late Deacon James and Mrs. Dora M. Booker in Swainsboro, Ga. She graduated in 1975 from the Emanuel County school system. JoAnn was employed by Keller’s Ladder Manufacturing and retired after 20 years of service.
JoAnn joined Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church and during the early years of her membership she served on the senior choir. Her faithfulness to her Mt. Gilead church family will always be remembered. JoAnn Booker’s commitment to serving others was evident in her many phone calls to check in on friends and family. She had a love for Christ and often reminded others of His goodness. JoAnn had such a sweet spirit and had a kind word to share with everyone! She spent many of her days watching cooking shows and attending church services regularly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Deacon James and Sis. Dora Booker, her sister Gerry Teagle and her grandson Dexter Booker Jr.
JoAnn leaves the following loved ones to hold onto her precious memories: two daughters: Shae and Devera Booker; one son, Dexter Booker Sr.; three grandchildren: D’Asia, Dekolby, and De’Kiya; two sisters: Mary Jenkins and Debra Brown; one brother: Alphonso Heyward; and a host of family and friends.
