Obituary for Joseph Antwan Mills
Bro. Joseph Antwan Mills was born on November 13, 1976 in Evans County, GA, to Deacon Joseph Wayne and Vernell Costen Mills. He was called to rest on March 16, 2022 at his home. He graduated from Claxton High School, Claxton, GA in 1995. He attended Valdosta University in Valdosta, GA and studied Human Resource Management. Bro. Mills was a member of the United House of Prayer For All People since birth. In 1998, he moved to Charlotte, NC to pursue a career in human relations with multiple mainstream companies ending with his most recent employer, XPO Logistics. As Bro. Mills continued to progress professionally, he (more importantly) stayed connected to his faith. Antwan was a dedicated member of various auxiliaries and served in multiple roles to include President of Presidents, member of the Bailey Angels and President of the Madison Faith Band. In addition to his instrumental talents, Bro. Mills was quite the songbird. In 2008, he joined and became a valued asset of the Bailey Golden Angels choir. Antwan found much joy in giving God praises through the gift of song and spreading laughter to everyone he encountered. Bro. Mills always had something ear-catching or funny to say! If you knew him, you know that he never met a stranger and truly valued his family. After a period of soul-searching and contemplation, he found joy and happiness in attending First Ward and, as a result, took a stronger and more active hold of his House of Prayer “works”. He worked faithfully in the Bailey Kitchen when needed, sold on the “yard”, supported the members of the Bailey Spiritual Return shout band and even became the house custodian. He humbly accepted the position and took great pride in maintaining the cleanliness of the House of Prayer. He told his pastor, “Pastor, I’m really happy working in First Ward”; for God truly had brought him a long way. Bro. Antwan leaves to cherish his loving memories his parents: Deacon Joseph Wayne and Vernell C.
