Obituary for Juan Dwayne Gibson
On Friday, December 29, 2017, Mr. Juan Dwayne Gibson (Cousin Buddy) passed away into eternal rest at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia at the age of 54. He was born October 10, 1963 to the late Mr. Owen and Mrs. Geneva Gibson. One sister, Helen Johnson, and one brother, Elton Gibson, preceded him in death. Juan graduated from Metter High School in 1963. Right after high school, he joined the United States Army where he developed an interest in photography . After his military service, he worked for Gibson Maintenance, Georgia Southern University and did photography in his spare time. He later became self-employed as a contractor. Juan accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Sams Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Juan had a love for people and his smile was contagious. One of his favorite phrases he often said was "Yes, Lord".
He leaves to cherish many loving memories: his longtime companion, Johnnie G. Williams of Statesboro, Georgia; one son, Kelvin Gibson of Swainsboro, Georgia; like a son, Charles Williams (Hope) of Tallahassee, Florida; eight brothers: Charlie Robinson of Bowling Green, Florida, Raymond Gibson (Valerie), Jerry Gibson, Larry Gibson (Arlene), Dwight Gibson, all of Metter, Georgia, James Gibson (Alfreda) of Twin City, Georgia, Gregory J. Gibson (Shirley) of North Augusta, South Carolina, Wendell Gibson (Janette) of Statesboro, Georgia; six sisters: Inez Porter (Tony) of Flushing, New York, Irene Dixon (Deloan), Carolyn Gibson, Deborah Brown (James), Janice Grant (Keith), and Wanda Gail Smith (Stanley), all of Metter, Georgia; one cousin reared as a sister, Karen Johnson (George) of Savannah, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Victoria Gibson of Statesboro, Georgia; two uncles: O.J. Gibson (Lorene) and U.L. Byrd of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; three aunts: Lottie Owens of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Eppie Brown of Laurelton, New York and Robertha McClain of Riverdale, New York; eight grandchildren: Kalyn, Kaidence, Jaleia, Trivon (Candice), Naaman, Christian, Cameron and Charles, Jr.; a very close nephew, Ron Vereen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
