On Friday, November 1, 2024, Mrs. Lillie Oglesby Dukes was called from labor to rest at the home of her daughter, LaRose Raston, after a short illness.
She was born on August 22, 1931, in Jenkins county, Georgia to the late Mr. Sid Oglesby and the late Mrs. Shelly Phillips Oglesby. Lillie was the youngest of seven children, all of whom have preceded her in death.
At an early age, Lillie joined St. Phillips Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board for many years. She then moved her membership to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. While at Oak Grove, Lillie was a faithful member of the choir and served on the kitchen committee. She also served on the Jethro Council, Inc., along with being a past member of the Eastern Star Chapter 11.
Lillie worked at Keller Industries until her retirement. After retirement she enjoyed working in her yard, fishing and visiting various churches. Lillie also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her greatest enjoyments was watching Family Feud. She loved Steve Harvey and his suits.
Lillie leaves the following loved ones to cherish her memory: two daughters: Martha (Robert) Williams, LaRose Raston; two grandsons: DeAnte Raston and Jeffrey Williams; three granddaughters: Brittany Williams, Jasmine Raston and Jhori (Carlie) Tota; -two great-grandsons: Jaxson Tota and DeAnte Raston, Jr.; two great-granddaughters: Kennedy Raston and Kehlani Raston; one stepson: Archie Dukes; two step-grandsons: Branard Dukes and Quintin (Katrisha) Dukes; three nephews: Cephus Oglesby, Reese (Renee) Oglesby and Leon (Brook) Wilkerson; one niece, Maudell (Steve) Oglesby Griner; and a host of other family members, friends and neighbors.
