Obituary for Maggie McKeever
Maggie McKeever entered into eternal peace with her family at her side on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Born May 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah McKeever. Ms. McKeever was a lifelong resident of Evans County and attended public school there. She joined Green Cypress Baptist Church at a young age and attended consistently until her health prevented her from participating. God and family were Ms. McKeever’s passion and delight. She was a loved and respected matriarch who leaves a legacy of faith, strength, humility, kindness and generosity. As we grieve our loss, let us not forget what Ms. McKeever has gained. Because Ms. McKeever’s life belonged to Christ, Christ’s unending life belongs to her. She is with God in glory. Ms. McKeever leaves her love and memories to be cherished by her children: Junior (Wilhemena) Palmer of Claxton; Robbie Lee Palmer of Hagan; Laura (Willie James) Miller of Fayetteville, N.C.; Jessie Mae (Jimmy) Carr of Claxton; George McKeever of Claxton; Geraldine Smith of Hagan; Clark (Emmaretta) McKeever of Hinesville, Vanessa (Delmas) Williams of Cordele; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. McKeever was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Juanita McKeever, Lola Mae McKeever, Leila Allen, Tholia Benjamin, Clarence Lee McKeever, Frank McKeever, Jim McKeever and Louis McKeever; daughter-in-law Mary Lee Palmer and son-in-law Vernon Smith.
