Dr. Malinda Patrick Hodges White was born on October 30, 1949 in Candler County, Metter, Georgia to the late Cother Lee Hodges and the late Juanita Byrd Hodges. She passed into eternal life on June 12, 2025. One of three children, Malinda received her formal education at Candler County Training School and was one of the first black students to graduate from Metter High School in the Class of 1967.
She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher until leaving for college. Malinda furthered her education at Fort Valley State College and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. She was admitted into Meharry Medical College, School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated with a degree in Internal Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, and became an accomplished physician at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC while living in Silver Springs, Maryland.
Malinda was joined in Holy Matrimony to Marvin White. To this union, one child was born, Bilal White.
She later moved home to Metter, Georgia and opened her own medical practice in Swainsboro, Georgia, which she operated for several years prior to experiencing failing health.
Malinda is survived by: the love of her life, one son: Mr. Bilal White of Metter, Georgia; one brother, Mr. Percy (Eula) Hodges and one sister, Ms. Yvonne Hodges, both of Metter, Georgia; one aunt, Mrs. Sallie Barnes of Killeen, Texas; three nieces, one great-niece, six great-nephews, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
