Where it has pleased the “Almighty God” to take from labor to reward our dear mother, Missionary Pauline Hendrix.
Missionary Pauline Hendrix was born on December 18, 1939 to the late Mr. Julius and Mrs. Lucille Brown. She departed this life on August 30, 2025 at Browns Rehabilitation Center.
Pauline’s educational journey began in the Evans County schools, where her hard work and intelligence allowed her to skip a grade and graduate high school in the Class of 1957, at just 16 years old. Her passion for learning and helping others carried into her career as a paraprofessional at Claxton Elementary School, where she dedicated more than twenty years to supporting students and inspiring them to always strive for their best. At the same time, she faithfully served as custodian at the First Baptist Church, a role she held with the same devotion for over two decades.
As a young girl, Pauline worshiped at the United House of Prayer for All People in Claxton, Georgia, under the leadership of Bishop C.M. Grace. Later she found her spiritual home at the Healing Temple Holiness Church, guided by the late Bishop P.J. Welch. There, her faith blossomed into service: she became a licensed Missionary, faithfully led as Superintendent of Sunday School, and joyfully taught the youth Sunday School class, pouring her heart into guiding the next generation.
Recently under the leadership of Pastor Allen Webb, Missionary Hendrix was named the “Mother of the Church”. Missionary Hendrix loved to give God praises in singing and in dance. She could be found on several prayer groups giving a fervent prayer or ministering through scripture during Bible study. She was a faithful member until her health would not allow her to go out as often. Even during her illness, when asked how she was doing, her response was always the same, “I’m being grateful”.
Missionary Hendrix was married to the late Toylie Hendrix, Jr. to which three children were born, who she leaves to cherish her memory: Evangelist Cathy (Minister Melvin) Brewton of Claxton, Georgia, Carl Hendrix of Hinesville, Georgia and Rhonda (Elder Terry) Smith of District Heights, Maryland; two sisters: Mrs. Lucille Bright of Columbia, South Carolina and Susie Mincey (Bishop Eddie) Mincey of Claxton, Georgia; one brother, Tabe (Judy) of Augusta, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Shanette Hendrix, Robert Triplette, Jr., Tremayne Brewton, Akeen Brewton, Marlo Childers, Terria (Brendon) Westray, and Jordan Smith; seven great-grandchildren: Brandon, Damanoe, Shanyia, Robert III, Destiny, Divine, Jordan, Brielle, and Chase; and three great-great grandchildren: Genisis, Aubrey, and Brendon, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
