Obituary for Newton Jackson

Newton Jackson, Jr., was born in Tattnall County, Georgia to the late Newton, Sr. and Emmaline Whitfield Jackson on March 18, 1926. He departed this life on February 22, 2018 at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation in the care of Ogeechee Hospice.

He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church and the Collins Social Club. He moved to Jersey City, New Jersey in 1950 and lived there until 1998. He worked as a truck driver for over forty years. After retiring as a truck driver, he moved back to Collins, GA to assist in the family owned grocery store from 2000 until the late 2000's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Newton Sr. and Emmaline Jackson; two brothers: Lewis Jackson and Randall Jackson; and three sisters: Immogene Lewis, Corene Oliver and Barbara Usher.

Newton Leaves to celebrate and cherish his memories: one son. Frederick (Markeia); grandchildren: Marcellus, Marlycia and Frederick Newton Jackson, Jr.; two sisters: Miriam D. Johnson of Collins, GA and Ollie-Dean (Wilton) Berry of Hampton, VA; two brothers: Clifford Jackson of Columbia, SC and Gene B, (Faye) Jackson of Jersey City, NJ; a Godbrother, Michael Davis of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
