Obituary for Patrick Maurice Gibson
Mr. Patrick Maurice Gibson, 45, transitioned to be with the Lord on November 22, 2019. He was affectionately known as “Pat” and “Uncle Pat Pat” to all who knew him. “Pat” played varsity football all four years at Metter High and graduated in 1993. After graduation, he began a career which spanned twenty-six years at Pineland Telephone Cooperative Inc. in Metter, Georgia.
Patrick was born on February 17, 1974 to Mr. Jerry Gibson Sr. and the late Mrs. Catherine Gibson. At an early age, he joined Sams Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He married his high school sweetheart, Latwyla Jones in August of 1997. The Lord blessed them with a beautiful daughter, Ky’la. They were married for twenty-two years. Patrick enjoyed fishing, trail riding, hunting, Falcons football, and traveling. He also enjoyed resurfacing running tracks and tennis courts with his dad and brother. But one of Patrick’s greatest joys was grilling for the family and friends that he loved dearly.
Pat was preceded in death by his Mother, Catherine Gibson and his sister-in-law, Latwanda Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Mrs. Latwyla Gibson; a loving daughter, Ms. Ky’la Gibson; his father, Mr. Jerry Gibson Sr.; two sisters: Ms. Felecia Gibson of Jacksonville, Florida and Ms. Dana Gibson of Metter, Georgia; one brother, Mr. Jerry Gibson Jr. (Makeler) of Metter, Georgia; two brothers-in-law: Mr. Jamie Jones (Tabitha) and Mr. Tyrone Smith, both of Jacksonville, Florida; three nephews: Jamie Jones Jr., Ashton Gibson, and Jerry Gibson III; five nieces: Ashley Ford, Destiny Jones, Jazmin Jones, Jynacis Smith, and Kennedi Gibson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom adored him.
