Obituary for Richard Lanier
Richard Lewis Lanier was born on December 18, 1953, to Ms. Essie Mae Babbs and the late Mr. Percy Lee Williams. Richard attended the Candler County school system and was a graduate of Metter High School. He was employed throughout his life in various industries.
Richard transitioned to his next phase by the Lord’s permission on March 12, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Williams, and his two nephews, Micah Shorter and Trivon Edwards, along with many maternal aunts and uncles.
He leaves behind a loving and devoted mother, Ms. Essie Mae Babbs of Metter, GA; two adult children; two brothers: Mr. Keith Lanier and Mr. Stanley Babbs, both of Metter, GA; two sisters: Ms. Carol Mincey of Metter, GA and Mrs. Sharon (Donald) Shorter of Warner Robins, GA; three paternal sisters: Ms. Charlene Williams, Ms. Christina Williams and Ms. Law’nya Williams, all of Sylacauga, AL; one aunt, Ms. Roberta Symonnette of Fort. Lauderdale, FL; nieces and nephews: Mrs. Camilla (Fred) Lewis, Mrs. Maria (Fred) Kelly, Mr. Gregory (Tracy) Mincey, Mr. Eric Mincey, Mr. Ricardo Lanier, Mr. Keith Lanier Jr., Ms. Sentorra Henry, Ms. Monica Lanier, Mr. Akeem Lanier; and Ms. DaVonna Shorter; and a host of other relatives, cousins, friends and associates, all of whom loved and cared for him.
