A life well lived...
Mr. Robert Louis Gibson was born in Metter, Georgia on December 2, 1953 to the late Mr. Robert Lee Gibson and the late Mrs. Willie Mae ‘Betty’ (Mason) Gibson.
Robert, A.K.A. 'Bruh' and ‘Bob’ by family and friends, attended Metter High School in Metter, Georgia. He graduated and shortly after joined the Army in December of 1973 and while in the Army he met his then angelic future wife in the summer of 1976, Patricia Ann Thomas, later Gibson. He had one son, Robert L. Gibson III and one stepdaughter who he would call his own, NoNeka Venette Thomas, who passed into eternal rest just one year earlier.
After his service in the Army, Robert pursued a career in automotive repair and aviation maintenance. In the automotive field, he was a self-taught master technician and in the aerospace industry he acquired his A&P license, using that skill to work for notable companies like Pratt & Whitney and Sikorsky. Robert had an illustrious knowledge and distinguished career across both industries. He loved to help people, whether it was a small or large task and wouldn't ask for much in return. Robert had an affinity for tinkering with and fixing things, spending a lot of time playing Chess, and showing support for his nine grandchildren.
‘Bruh’ or ’Bob’ is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Willie Mae Gibson; his stepdaughter, NoNeka Thomas; his maternal grandparents: Mr. Charlie Mason, Jr. and Mrs. Effie Mason; his paternal grandparents: Mr. Otis Gibson and Ms. Janie Ellis; his uncles: Talmadge Mason, Nathan (N.H.)
