Obituary for Sarah Bell McCormick
Mrs. Sarah Bell Moore McCormick was born on April 24, 1937 in Bulloch County, Georgia to the late Mrs. Jessie Moore and Mrs. Fannie Mae Smith Johnson. At an early age, she joined Lakeside First Baptist Church in Metter, Georgia. Sarah attended Byrd Jr. High School in Pulaski, Georgia.

Sarah worked as a CNA for approximately thirty years. She was also a homemaker who was very devoted to her family. A mother to all who knew her, she was affectionately called “MaSarah” by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Jessie Moore and Mrs. Fannie Mae Johnson; two brothers: Mr. Paul Moore, Jr. and Mr. Leroy Moore; two sisters: Mrs. Betty Sue Wilbert and Mrs. Jannie Lue Davis; and two special friends: Mr. Lonnie Joe Rock and Ms. Lillie Faye Brunson.

Mrs. Sarah Bell McCormick departed this life on February 24, 2016 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia after a long illness. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her daughter, Ms. Patricia Mercer of Metter, GA; two sons: Mr. Robert Lee Mercer and Mr. Willie John Mercer, both of Metter, GA; six stepchildren: Ms. Shelby Nance, Ms. Teresa Mercer, and Mr. Lee James Mercer, all of Metter, GA; Ms. Linda Mercer of Macon, GA, Mr. David Lee Mikell of Lincoln, NB and Mr. Randy Mercer of Kentucky; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Annie M. Mercer of Metter, GA; seven sisters-in-law: Mrs. Inez Lewis of Vero Beach, FL, Mrs. Ruth Ellen Broswell of Statesboro, GA, Mrs. Doris Holloway and Mrs. Mary Walker, both of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Mrs. Dora Holloway Richards of Swainsboro, FL, Mrs. Earline Mercer of Statesboro, GA, and Mrs. Tarsha Mercer of Fort Lauderdale, FL; three brothers-in-law: Mr. Cleo Mercer of Statesboro, GA, Mr. Freddie Mercer and Mr. Billy Walker, both of Fort Lauderdale, FL; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
