Obituary for Vara Bell Mincey Porter
Mrs. Vara Bell Mincey Porter was born in Evans County on February 10, 1949 to the late Ms. Vera D. Allen Mincey and the late Mr. Talmadge "Buck" Mincey. On February 3, 2018, God quietly and peacefully called her home.
At an early age, she joined Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. She later united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church after marriage to her husband, Dea. Thurman Porter. Two sisters, Sara Bess Oglesbee and Lulavone Johnson, preceded her in death, as well as one brother, Calvin E. Mincey and a granddaughter, Darriana Watson.
Those who will cherish her memory are: Her husband, Willie Smith of Vidalia, Georgia; two caring daughters: Jannel Walker of Manassas, Georgia and Angie M. Porter of Morgan City, Louisiana; one loving granddaughter, Shanice L. Walker; three great-granddaughters: Jermani D. Ambrose, Ba'Myiah B. Walker, and Chloe D. Lee; four sisters: Eva Lee Brewton of Columbia, South Carolina, Jeanette Young of Reidsville, Georgia; Barbara J. Mobley of Morgan City, Louisiana, and Leatha Crter of Cincinnati, Ohio; six sisters-in-law: Delores Fuller, Lavonne Logan, Mary Alice Dixon, Mary Nell Porter, Jane (Rex) Norman and Sherma Dean (Rev. Will) White; four brothers-in-law: James (Doris) Porter of Manassas, Georgia; Rev. Lehmon Smith of Vidalia, Georgia; Randy Smith and Martin Smith.
