Obituary for Weldon Smith

Early on February 20, 2024, Weldon Smith ascended to heaven to join our Lord and Savior. He was born on February 1, 1957, to the late Deacon Roosevelt Smith Sr. and Amanda Lee Smith in Claxton, Georgia. He graduated from Claxton High School. Following his studies, Weldon became an Insurance Agent and was known as the first African American male agent in his area. After many fulfilling years of working in the Insurance field, Weldon resigned and later became a Correctional Officer in Chatham County. After several years he found even more delight in becoming a Builder and Carpenter. Weldon was known for his many talents and his ability to build and repair almost anything.

Weldon accepted Christ into his life at an early age and became a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Ephesus Faith Deliverance Holiness Church in Christ in Savannah, GA, where he faithfully served until his death. Brother Smith loved the Lord. He not only modeled his love for the Lord in his community, but also assisted in his church in many ways. Weldon always had a kind word and a smile to share with everyone. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents: Roosevelt and Amanda Smith, siblings: Rufus (Pete) Smith, Annie Elois Smith, Edward Smith, Roosevelt Smith Jr, Freddie Smith, Patricia Kent. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Greg Smith; one daughter, Adrienne Smith Arkwright (Larry); three brothers, George Smith (Beatrice), Joel Smith, Eddie James Smith; two sisters, Carrie Holmes, Donnie Hines (Frank); 3 grandchildren, and several cherished nieces, nephews, and close friends.
