Obituary

Mr. Artis Ford was born on April 13, 1956 to the late Mr. James and Mrs. Shirley Whitehead Ford and was the youngest of six born to this union. On June 16th, 2021 Artis entered into eternal rest at Candler County Hospital in Metter, Georgia. Artis, also known as "Tootsie Pop" as he was called, attended the Emanuel County School System. He was a 1974 graduate of Swainsboro High School. Artis "Tootsie Pop" furthered his education at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. After returning to Swainsboro, Artis "Tootsie Pop" worked various jobs. He was employed with the Emanuel County School System as a Special Education Para Pro. He also worked with Roper and American Door in Swainsboro and Trane in Vidalia, Georgia. Artis "Tootsie Pop" was known for his vibrant personality, his intelligence and bravery, and most definitely his sense of humor. He was also known for his productive work skills. In 2018, Artis accepted Christ into his life and became a member of Love In Action Worship Center, under the leadership of Rev. Willie Harden in Swainsboro, Georgia. He was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Shirley Ford; one sister, Ernestine Telfair; and two brothers: Jimmy ford and Jerry Ford. Mr. Artis "Tootsie Pop" Ford is survived by the following loved ones: two sisters: Mrs. Gladys F. Coleman and Mrs. Willa Dean (Robert) Turner, both of Swainsboro, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
