Obituary

Mr. Archie McNeal, Sr. was born on August 19, 1933 in Long County to the late James (Chunk) and Josephine Brewton McNeal. He answered his call on July 30, 2024, from 531 Cleve Hagan Road. He was educated in the Evans County school system. Archie was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where he was involved and always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He grew up in Daisy, Georgia. He was a farmer and worked several jobs. He later moved his membership to Historic Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. During this time he served as the Cemetery Chairman. His passion for caring for the deceased was admired by all who knew how dedicated he was to serve. He also served as a member of the Male Choir of Historic Mt. Pleasant as well. On May 25, 1985, he married Agnes Hagan McNeal, and together they raised a loving and beautiful family. Archie was preceded in death by: three children: Carolyn McNeal, Carlene McNeal, and Shelby McNeal Lovett; two sisters: Janie Ruth McNea and Lillie Jane McNeal; four brothers: Charles Lester (Lila) McNeal, James Robert (Northabell) McNeal, Tommie McNeal and Donohue McNeal; and one who was raised as a sister, Louise (John L.) Buttler. He leaves the following to cherish many fond memories: his loving wife of 39 years, Agnes McNeal; children: Marsh Ann Reed of San Leander, California, Joyce Parker of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Erma Young of Claxton, Georgia, Patricia Fleischman of Springdale, Arkansas, Lillie (Cecil) McClain Carlinda McNeal, Cynthia (Malcom) McKever, all of Claxton, Georgia, Quincy Scott of Reidsville, Georgia, Archie (Marian) McNeal, Jr. of Pembroke, Georgia, Anthony (Trena) Gardner of Atlanta, Georgia, Calvin McNeal of Dublin, Georgia, Isaac (Jenny) McNeal of Claxton, Georgia, Darryl (Keaundria) McNeal of Statesboro, Georgia, and Johnnie (Chaka) Russell of Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Pastor Deloris (Eld. Joseph) Young; mother-in-law: Cora Hagan; one aunt, Ella Oglesby of Claxton, Georgia; three sisters-in-law: Lulaetta McNeal, Mary Small, and Brenda Jones; two brothers-in-law: Lamar Hagan and Terry Crawford; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
