Effie Louise
Littles
July 23, 1932 – March 30, 2026
Effie Louise Moore Littles was born on July 23, 1932 in Soperton, Georgia to the late Charlie Wesley Moore and Alberdia Bell Moore. At the age of five, her family moved from Soperton, Georgia to Claxton, Georgia, along with her grandmother, Nancy Ann Danzy Moore. She was raised with her siblings, Earlene Moore Harris, Kathleen Moore Everett, and Savino (Bina) Charles Moore. Louise was the oldest grandhcild of the Bell family. She passed on March 29, 2026.
Her parents enriched their lives by laying a strong foundation of love for family, solid work ethic, and Christian values. Louise joined First African Baptist Church at an early age and attended Evans County High School, where she excelled academically and in basketball. She graduated on May 22, 1950 from the 11th grade, which was the high grade level offered at that time.
Louise married Jack Littles on December 3, 1949. Over the years, Jack and Louise owned several businesses, including a construction company which built FHA homes in Claxton, Daisy, Hinesville, Riceboro, Cobbtown, and surrounding communities. They also owned Donna's Hotel & Restaurant on Highway 301, North of Claxton. The motel was well known for serving delicious meals to tobacco workers and other guests. They also sold gas. Former Mayor Perry Lee DeLoach often held campaign cookouts at the motel.
Louise was a babysitter and a talented seamstress who created clothing for all ages. She served as Secretary of the Claxton NAACP for over twenty years, financial Secretary at First African Baptist Church, taught Vacation Bible School at St. John Baptist Church, worked with the Mount Calvary Baptist Association under the leadership of Rev. Dr. L. Perry McNeal, and was a member of Sweet Evening Breeze Chapter #269, Order of Eastern Star.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children: Donna Littles Jones of Allenhurst, Georgia; Vickie (Marcus) Littles of Claxton, Georgia; Dr. Charles (Dana) Littles of North Charleston, South Carolina, and Daryl (Rhonda) LIttles of Hephzibah, Georgia; nine grandchildren: Angie (Anthony) Bullard of Hinesville, Georgia, Michael Boykin, Jr., Briana (Kevin) LIttles of Portsmouth, Virginia; Lauren, Chelsea, and Charles, Jr (CJ) Littles of North Charleston, Georgia, Raquel Littles of Augusta, Georgia, Daryl (Racheida) Littles II (Lil' D), and George LIttles of Atlanta, Georgia; five great-grandchildren: Michael Boykin III, Georgia Littles, Avani and Aniyah Barnes, and one on the way in August 2026!; nieces: Tonya Y.
