Early on September 27, 2023 Frances Vernell Williams ascended to heaven to join our Lord and Savior. She was born on February 23, 1938, to the late General and Susie Young. She graduated as Salutatorian of her class at Reidsville High School. Following her studies, she attended Georgia Southern College. She then enjoyed several years as a Paraprofessional at Reidsville Elementary School. After many full filling years of dedicated work, she resigned and found even more delight in becoming a stay-at-home mother. Mother Williams accepted Christ into her life at an early age and became a member of Smith Chapel Holiness Church. She later moved her membership, becoming a full-time member of Green Cypress Baptist Church where she faithfully served until her death. She held many roles in the church including Sunday school teacher, deaconess, mission president, mentor for the youth, not to mention being a faithful member and of course our beloved church Mother. Mother Williams loved the Lord. She not only talked about this in her different roles throughout the church, but she modeled it in her home and community. She served as a missionary in the local nursing home and hospital. She always had a kind word and smile to share with anyone. On November 23, 1961, she married the love of her life Deacon Clyde Williams. They were in love and blessed with 43 years together. Mother Williams was preceded in death by husband; Clyde Williams; sons: Gerald Williams, Michael Young and Perry Bell; daughter, Elizabeth Evans; her sisters: Beatrice Butler and Jean Surrency; brother, Kerneal Young. She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Sandra (Rick) Collins, Brenda (Gordon) Wood; one sister, Earnestine Braithwaite; daughters-in-law: Martha Young and Allie Mills-Jenkins; eight grandchildren and several cherishable great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends.
