Obituary

Glenda McCoy Fenn, age 67, of Claxton, Georgia, gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Glenda, affectionately called Brenda, by family and friends, was born on December 29, 1953, to the late Ms. Bertha Nell Stevens and the late Reverend Curtis McCoy in Hagan, Georgia. At a young age, Brenda confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized. Brenda spent her formative years in both Hagan, Georgia and Miami, Florida. She attended Miami-Edison Senior High School. Brenda was a young mother when she met the love of her life, Arthur Dean Fenn in 1969. Brenda and Arthur were married on February 8, 1971, and celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Together, Brenda and Arthur raised their five children in Miami, Florida. Once their children were grown, Brenda and Arthur relocated to Claxton, Georgia. Brenda was a fiercely dedicated wife and mother. Family came first and was above all else, a value Brenda instilled in all those around her. Brenda excelled at helping members of her family while supporting them through the various passions and difficulties of their lives. She enjoyed deep conversations, dancing, singing, and laughing with her family. Brenda loved to see others happy and was most proud of the success of her children. When others visited her, Brenda welcomed them with a warm plate, a listening ear, and a beautiful smile. Over the course of her life, Brenda worked a host of jobs in various industries. Prior to her illness, she worked in the housekeeping department at Evans Memorial Hospital. Brenda enjoyed hearing the Word of God and attended services at The Historic Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and Hagan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Brenda leaves a host of family and friends to cherish her memories. Brenda is survived by her husband, Arthur Fenn of Claxton, Georgia; five children: Maurice Moore (JaSonne) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Tracey Simms (Jamaal) of Miami, Florida, Andre Fenn of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, DaShan Fenn of Miami, Florida, and Tenisha Goree (Greg) of Miami, Florida; nine grandchildren: D'Andra Fenn, Ryan Moore, Jakhary Fenn, Elijah Goree, Anisha Fenn, Jasmine Goree, Jamaria Simms, Jamaal Simms Jr., and King Fenn; three siblings: Barrington Stevens, Jr., (Patricia) of Allen, Texas, Cynthia Pollock (McCloskey) of Miami, Florida, and Duana Brewton of Miami, Florida; two surviving aunts: Arquella Lovette (Willie James) of Miami, Florida, and Sander Berry (Ronnie) of Claxton, Georgia; three sisters-in-law: Katheryn Fenn of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Caroline Fenn of Miami, Florida, and Annie Pearl Wheeler of Clio, Alabama; three brothers-in-law: Sam Wheeler of Clio, Alabama, Roddell Wheeler of Clio, Alabama, and Leo Wheeler of Clio, Alabama. Additionally, Brenda leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.
