Obituary

Journee Ma'Kayla Cullars, a cherished daughter, sister, and friend, was born on July 11, 2005 in Statesboro, Georgia to Yolanda Cullars and Eugene Hunter Jr.  Born on a rainy night, she entered the world already living up to her name.  She brought sunshine after the rain. She began life marked by strength, resilience, and purpose.

Journee was a beautifully vibrant soul, a free spirit with a loving heart, whose bubbly personality brought light to every room she entered.  Her natural courageousness was matched only by her fierce ambition and determination.  These traits shown brightly throughout her time at Claxton High School.  As a proud graduate of the Class of 2023, she didn't just participate, she excelled, earning honors in Language Arts and Math. Her boundless energy found an outlet in everything she did, whether Journee was competing in basketball, track and softball, bringing joy to the cheerleading squad, or engaging with her community through Girl Scouts and the 4H Club.

Rooted in her faith, she attended Healing Temple in Sandersville, Georgia, which grounded her vibrant spirit.  Journee channeled her fierce ambition toward building her future at Savannah Technicial College, where she proundly graduated as a Dental Assistant on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.  Despite her drive, she never lost her sense of humor or her joy. Anyone who knew her well will forever smile, rememebering her favorite saying: " can't fight, I'm calling the police!"
