Obituary

Mr. Lee Edward (Lee Boy) Mincey was born on April 4, 1944 in Metter, Georgia to the late Mr. Joe and Mrs. Vineta Mincey. On March 16, 1963, he married his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Margret Mincey and moved her to Alexandria, Virginia. Together, they worked to make a better life for themselves and their children. He enjoyed an illustrious career that spanned over thirty-five years and helped build numerous buildings in the Washington Metropolitan area as an Iron Steel worker. Lee was a true "family man" and friend. It didn't matter where he was or what he was doing, he was always willing to help. Lee considered EVERYONE a friend. Although he was not one for flying, Lee was always ready to take a nice ride back home to Georgia to visit with his family and friends as much as he could. Gardening was his passion. Lee could grow just about anything that grows from the ground, and all of Virginia and Maryland could see his talent for gardening. Wherever there was an empty plot of soil, he would put something there to grow, even when he wasn't supposed too. Fishing was another one of Lee's passions. He would take his sons and grandsons fishing and they loved that time with him. The family loved to see Lee do his "two step" to some Roy C. and Otis Redding, just always full of life. Lee was preceeded in death his parents, Joe and Vineta Mincey, two sisters, Annie Pearl Barlow and Thelma Royals, and five brothers, John Mincey, Ernest Mincey, James Mincey, Charles Mincey and Bernard Mincey. He leaves the following loved ones behind to cherish his memory: his wife, Margret Mincey; six daughters: Zestann Jackson (Wayne), Shelby Jones (Alvin, Sr.), Josie Bell McDonald, Margret Mincey, Estella Robertson, and Kanisha Tommy; three sons: Charles Mincey, Bernard Mincey, and Terry Mincey; his siblings: Josie Williamson, Vernita Williams (Otis) and Samuel Mincey (Inell); three sisters-in-law; twenty grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
