Obituary

Ms. Lucille Brooks, age 74, of Swainsboro, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, at Emanuel County Medical Center following an extended illness. Ms. Brooks was born in Twin City, Georgia on January 1, 1948, to the late Mr. Alvin "Buster" Brooks and the late Mrs. Dollie Lee Green Silas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Homer Brooks, Jr.; two brothers: Willie Silas Jr. and Alvin Brooks Jr.; and two sisters: Georgia Green Grubbs and Lillie Mae Silas. Ms. Brooks attended Swainsboro Elementary and Swainsboro High School. She was a member of Roundtree Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Twin City, Georgia for many years. Later in life, Ms. Brooks became a member of The Greater Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, where her membership remained until her death. Ms. Brooks was a loving mother who raised both her children and grandchildren. Once you got to know her, she was a loving and caring friend. She was a hard worker who was employed at Roper for twenty years and at Capro for several years before her health began to decline. Ms. Lucille Brooks leaves the following loved ones behind to cherish many fond memories: two sons: Mr. Bobby Brooks and Mr. Kowalski Brooks, both of Swainsboro, Georgia; two daughters: Mrs. Darlene Brooks Hackett (Tyson) of Swainsboro, Georgia and Mrs. Maryann Silas Heyward (William) of Augusta, Georgia; her daughter/daughter: Ms. Apolonia Brooks, of Swainsboro, Georgia; two granddaughters: Ms. Shacoya Woods of Swainsboro, Georgia and Ms. Zakhia McKinney of Augusta, Georgia; three grandsons: Mr. Tyson Hackett, Jr., (Whitney), Mr. Jacquez Woods (Bricia), and Mr. Kowalski E. Brooks, all of Swainsboro, Georgia; four great grandchildren: Tylandon Hackett, Tyson Hackett, lll, Ke'Zhari Brooks, and Denivi Brooks, all of Swainsboro, Georgia; four sisters: Mrs. Minnie Ruth Silas Hall of Columbia, South Carolina, Mrs. Emma Silas May and Mrs. Estella Silas Kirkland, both of Swainsboro, Georgia, and Ms. Lula Mae Stokes of Twin City, Georgia; a long-time special friend, Mrs. Nellie Williams Davis (Jesse); and a host of loving and caring nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
