Missionary Mary Francis Mercer, 79, of Syracuse, New York, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 8, 2025, at Community Hospital.Born on November 6, 1946, in Reidsville, Georgia, Mary was the third oldest child of the late Willia Mae and Robert Busby, and her stepfather, Jessie B. Heath.She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Dean Dixon and Jessie Greene; two brothers, Levern Busby and Gary Busby; two grandchildren, Ricky Powell and Phillip Mercer; three great-grandchildren, Reginald Mercer, Myron Stephens Jr., JaeMarie Renee Mercer; and her very special fur baby, Oscar Myer Mercer.Mary relocated to Syracuse, New York, in 1969 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she remained until the Lord called her home. She worked faithfully for over thirty years at the Hotel Syracuse until her retirement.Missionary Mercer loved cooking, gardening, and serving her community, but above all else, she loved and served the Lord with her whole heart.She leaves to cherish her memory of six children: Obie Lee Mercer (Cassondra) of Jacksonville, Florida; John Mercer (Betty) of Utica, New York; Darryl Mercer (Yevette) of Syracuse, New York; Dwight Mercer (Phyllis) of Menifee, California; Tawn Mercer of Syracuse, New York; Patrick Dunn (Sarah) of Syracuse, New York; her companion, Tommy Paige of Syracuse, New York; one Uncle: Bobby Carson (Ida) of Dewitt, New York; her Sister, Joyce Kirkland of Syracuse, New York; and a loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, totaling 36 descendants who will continue her legacy of love and finally leaves behind a host of Nieces and Nephews.
