Missionary Dorothy Mae Carter Green was born March 4, 1937 in Hagan, Georgia, Evans County, to the late Mr. Steve and Mrs. Janie Carter, both of whom preceded in death. Missionary Dorothy Green received her formal education in the Evans County school system. In September 1960, Missionary Green was joined in Holy Matrimony to Elder Joseph Lee Green in Aiken, South Carolina. The couple resided in Claxton, Georgia. Missionary Green joined The Healing Temple Ministry in 1963 under the leadership of Bishop P.J. Welch. Missionary Green enjoyed working for God, and during the years she held various offices, and she worked in many auxiliaries. She sang in the Choir, worked on the Usher Board, taught Sunday School, and worked in the Missionary Ministry. Missionary Green was notorious for making her potato pies and chewy cake. She also loved wearing her big hats, and setting the table for the Ministerial Staff at the Healing Temple Ministries. Missionary Green was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Elder Joseph Lee Green and three brothers: Julian Carter, Jeffrey Carter, and Hershel Carter. Missionary Green leaves to cherish her memories: one loving and caring daughter, Gussie (Brenda) Murphy and one son-in-law, James T. Murphy, both of Savannah, Georgia; three grandchildren she cherished and adored: Dant'e Daquance Murphy of Hope Mills, North Carolina, James Timothy Murphy II (Danielle) of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Miahtay She'Bre Murphy (Asahara) of Savannah, Georgia; three great-grandchildren: Malaisah Shailee Murphy and Matiah Janie Murphy of Savannah, Georgia and Davon Danterrius Murphy of Hope Mills, North Carolina; four sisters: Mary Earls of Claxton, Georgia, Betty Wilkins of Atlanta, Georgia, Audrey Warren of Brunswick, Georgia, and Cordia Carter of Claxton, Georgia; one brother, Elder Steve Carter, Jr. of Glennville, Georgia; several spiritual children: Catherine Gholston of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Selena Davis, Sharon Jackson and Anthony and Shaun Williams, all of Savannah, Georgia; Pastor Raymond and Sis. Shirley Williams of Claxton, Georgia and The Healing Temple Ministries; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
