Obituary for Ronnie Lorinza Tomblin
Mr. Ronnie Lorinza Tomblin passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Mesun Health Services in Lawrenceville, Georgia after a short illness. He was the son of Mr. Arthur E. Tomblin, and the late Mrs. Mary Lee Nobles Tomblin. He was born on September 1, 1949 and was a native of Reidsville, Georgia. Ronnie joined Greater Bethel A.M.E.Church at an early age. He was educated in the public school system of Tattnall County, and graduated in 1967 from the Tattnall Industrial High School.

Ronnie attended Georgia Southern University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education, and a Master’s Degree of Education, as well as an Education Specialist Degree from Cambridge University located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He taught middle school grades in Candler County School District and retired from the Gwinnett County School District. Upon retiring, Ronnie was an avid golfer.

He lived in Evans County for approximately 20 years, where he was actively involved in community organizations. Ronnie was one of three founders of the Evans County Afro-American Society, and was the first president. He was also instrumental in organizing the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday activities. Mr. Tomblin was actively involved in the RICH Program, an African American young male mentoring program.

Ronnie volunteered with the Evans County Recreation Program coaching baseball and football. He was a member of the Evans County Chapter of the NAACP 5181 and was also a member of the Evans County Industrial Development Authority.

Mr. Ronnie Tomblin leaves the following loved ones to cherish his memory: his father, Mr. Arthur E. Tomblin; one son, Mr. Ryan Nickalaus Tomblin; one daughter, Mrs. Shanna Mincey Harton (Marcus); one sister, Mrs. Marilyn L. Tomblin Dinkins; three grandchildren: Brandi, Brandon, and Briana Harton, and a bonus granddaughter, Zion Heard; two great grandchildren: Elijah and Brielle Harton; one nephew, Mr. Rodney Dinkins (Shelia); two nieces: Ms. Andrea Hicks and Ms. Shika Carter; two aunts: Mrs. Frances L. McCray (Grady) and Reverend Brenda Brown; two uncles: Mr. Raliegh Nobles, Jr. (Josie) and Mr. Benny Nobles; two Godchildren: Shamanda Holland and Tomain Murphy; and a host of loving cousins, other relatives and friends.
