"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven, a time to be born, and a time to die………….Ecclesiastes 3:2
A Time to be born
On June 21, 1960, the late Cleveland "Nick" Davis and Grace Slater-Davis was blessed with a bouncing baby boy, who was named Samuel Rufus Davis. Sam as he was affectionately called was a loving son, a devoted father, a witty brother, and a lively, spirited friend to those whom he met. Although Samuel was his birth name he was called Bruh, Vamp, and Cameo to those who knew him. Sam attended schools in the Evans County School System.
A Time to Work
Sam lived by the Scripture in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 that states in part "if a man don't work, he does not eat". Sam met two men whom he worked and admired dearly for many years which one Mr. Jean Lewis preceded him in death, and Mr. Gill Mincey whom he worked with until his death.
A Time to Enjoy Life
When not in his "hut" enjoying an afternoon of minding his own business, Sam was out fishing and enjoying life to the fullest. On the day of his death, Sam and his mother had planned a trip to the fish pond, which the high winds forbidden them to do so. Sam's witty personality and the protection of his mother will be greatly missed.
A Time to Die
On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, it was stated that smoke was observed coming from the "hut's" chimney and it was at that time our son, father, brother, and friend stepped from this side of life into eternity to enjoy an everlasting life in a place promised by God.
Sam leaves to mourn his passing a devoted daughter Dashae Cooper, two sons Ramon Davis and Tremayne McKever, a loving mother Gracie Slater-Davis, three granddaughters Adriona Cooper and Dasianae Cooper, nine sisters Lula Smith, Lottie Brown (Roy), Shirley Childers, Carolyn Davis, Carol Pryor, Mae Cox, Brenda Bacon (Lester), Eland Davis, and Cassandra Williams, seven brothers Donnell Davis (Learh), Harry Davis (Esther) Legrand Davis, Anthony Davis (Nicole), Cornelius Cone (Becky), Cleveland Cone (Deidra), Marvin Mervin (Latoya), three devoted friends Timothy Smith, Eugene Scott, and Gill Mincey, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
